FAQ | Samaya

Question 1

What is Samaya?

Accepted Answer

Samaya is a finance research platform that searches and reasons over supported financial sources and your approved documents. It produces source-linked research. Use the platform for configurable agents, MCP to access supported research in an approved AI assistant, or the API for an integration. Capabilities and source access vary by surface.

Question 2

Who is Samaya built for?

Accepted Answer

Samaya supports investment professionals across the buy side and sell side, including asset management, hedge funds, equity and credit research, investment banking, sales and trading, and wealth management. The solution pages show examples of work for specific desks.

Question 3

Why add Samaya if we already use financial AI?

Accepted Answer

Compare the same difficult task in your current setup and with Samaya: assess missing evidence, numerical definitions, and the time your analysts spend verifying and correcting the output. Samaya brings a finance-specific retrieval and research stack, source inspection, and configurable workflows.

Question 4

Are the solutions pages the full list of use cases?

Accepted Answer

No, just a few examples. Investment professionals across the buy side and sell side can shape research around their universe, source access, and review process. Bring your specific task to a demo.

Question 5

Can we start with one desk?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Scope a pilot around a defined group, its questions, and an agreed source set. Evaluate the output and workflow fit before expanding to more users. Commercial terms are agreed with sales.

Question 6

Can workflows be tailored to our team?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Set your companies, sources, reporting periods, required checks, and output format. Custom investment memos and fund commentary are available on request. Specific configurations should be validated during the pilot.

Question 7

Can we tailor the research skills to our own process?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Start with reusable research instructions across idea generation, research, modeling, monitoring, and audit, or work with Samaya to tailor them to your firm. Define your research questions, source set, checks, and output format. The website shows selected skill examples; confirm the skills and tools enabled for your assistant during setup.

Question 8

What is the difference between Q&A and agents?

Accepted Answer

Use Q&A for targeted lookups, comparisons, and exploratory questions. Use Agent mode for a structured report: review the research plan and output structure, then run it. Agents also support scheduled research and supported event triggers in the platform.

Question 9

Are thesis monitoring, screening, and exposure sizing available today?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. These releases are in development. Today, use Q&A, agents, live earnings, and supported source alerts. The planned thesis monitor connects new evidence to assumptions you confirm. Screening combines financial filters with document-based criteria. Exposure sizing starts with single-company research through MCP; a platform comparison across companies is planned for a later release.

Question 10

Can I filter citations by source type?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In the reference panel, filter the cited documents by First-party, Third-party, or Web. References are grouped by document and the filter counts documents. This changes the reference list you inspect, not the answer or the sources used to generate it. Source categories describe provenance, not a guarantee of accuracy.

Question 11

How do I choose which sources Samaya researches?

Accepted Answer

In Q&A, choose the enabled sources in the source selector. In Agent mode, specify the sources in your prompt or edit the research plan. This is separate from filtering the references after an answer is generated. Provider permissions and account entitlements still apply.

Question 12

Can I inspect the data behind a chart?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Q&A supports charts with a view of the underlying cited data table. You can also request charts in agent reports. Review definitions, units, and reporting periods before using the figures.

Question 13

Can I reuse a report format across my coverage?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Save an agent outline as a reusable template, with company and period placeholders. You can also use Replicate analysis with an example report under ten pages, or Refresh analysis to rerun existing research with updated data. Ask for one report per company when you want separate outputs.

Question 14

Which document uploads are supported?

Accepted Answer

Supported formats include PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML, CSV, and plain text. Upload up to five files at a time, with a maximum of 100 MB per file. Documents become available after processing. Attachments are researched alongside other enabled sources, rather than automatically restricting the answer to that file.

Question 15

Does international research coverage mean local data hosting?

Accepted Answer

No. Samaya hosts production data and backups exclusively in Google Cloud US regions. International research coverage does not mean local hosting in those markets. Review permitted data flows and model-provider handling during deployment.

Question 16

Can I ask Samaya a question by email?

Accepted Answer

Where email Q&A is enabled for your account, send your question to ask@app.samaya.ai. Samaya replies in the thread and creates a session in the app. Email supports Q&A; use Agent mode in the platform for structured reports.

Question 17

How do I check figures and conflicting information?

Accepted Answer

Follow the inline citation back to its source passage. Compare the reporting period, metric definition, units, and whether a figure is reported, estimated, or restated. Ask the assistant to surface conflicting claims and explain the differences. For a historical table, keep missing periods visible rather than filling them with unsupported estimates.

Question 18

Can Samaya make the investment decision for us?

Accepted Answer

No. Samaya supports research and review. Your authorized team retains investment decisions, valuation assumptions, compliance approvals, and any trading action.

Question 19

How can I use Samaya?

Accepted Answer

There are three ways to use Samaya. The API connects your applications, MCP connects your AI assistant, and the research platform is Samaya’s workspace for Q&A and agents. Capabilities, source access, and commercial terms depend on your agreed setup.

Question 20

What is MCP, in plain language?

Accepted Answer

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol: a way for an AI assistant to connect to tools and information. Samaya MCP gives an approved assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, access to Samaya’s financial search and research skills. You work in the assistant; Samaya supplies the financial research connection.

Question 21

When should I use MCP rather than the research platform?

Accepted Answer

Use MCP for everyday financial questions and research inside the assistant you already use, including work that feeds Excel, PowerPoint, or Word. Use the platform when you want Samaya to coordinate deeper reports, coverage lists, live earnings research, or supported recurring and triggered agents. Platform agents can continue working after you close the tab.

Question 22

Can I use Samaya research in Excel, PowerPoint, or Word?

Accepted Answer

Yes, through a compatible assistant. Use Samaya research for sourced model inputs and variance tables in Excel, company or industry research in PowerPoint, and investment memos in Word. The assistant creates or edits the file using its available tools and permissions; Samaya supplies research and reusable instructions. Keep the citations with the output and review the figures before use.

Question 23

Can I set up filing and news alerts through MCP?

Accepted Answer

Where enabled for your account, ask your connected assistant to monitor supported document events for a company or topic. Confirm eligible sources and delivery options during setup. These subscriptions are distinct from platform agent workflows.

Question 24

Are the same data sources available through MCP and the platform?

Accepted Answer

No. Availability depends on the source provider, your entitlements, enabled tools, and the way you access Samaya. Some licensed financials, estimates, and transcripts require a specifically enabled MCP or API connection. PitchBook and Third Bridge content is not available through MCP or the public API. Confirm your source set and connected workspace access during setup; platform access does not automatically grant MCP or API access.

Question 25

Can I access S&P transcripts through MCP?

Accepted Answer

No. S&P transcripts are not currently available through Samaya MCP. Samaya uses Quartr for transcripts through MCP.

Question 26

Is FactSet available through MCP or the API?

Accepted Answer

FactSet connections for MCP and the API are integrated and in testing. Neither is available in production yet.

Question 27

Which data providers use OAuth?

Accepted Answer

Daloopa and PitchBook use OAuth to connect your provider account. FactSet OAuth is planned, but its MCP and API connections are still in testing. Visible Alpha does not currently use OAuth; Samaya hosts that data, as it does for S&P Capital IQ. Provider subscriptions and entitlements still apply.

Question 28

What does the 99% company coverage figure refer to?

Accepted Answer

It refers to companies in the major equity indexes mapped in the October 2, 2026 coverage map: MSCI ACWI, MSCI World, MSCI ACWI IMI, STOXX Europe 600, MSCI EM Latin America, FTSE EMEA, MSCI EM EMEA, S&P 500, Russell 3000, and S&P/TSX Composite. Coverage varies by source; it does not mean every source or data type is available for every company.

Question 29

Can Samaya use our internal research alongside external sources?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Bring approved investment theses, meeting notes, and other internal research together with public disclosures and licensed data. Samaya can investigate where new evidence supports or challenges your team’s view and link findings back to the sources. Internal access and ingestion are scoped with your firm.

Question 30

Can we bring research from Tamale, Bipsync, or another RMS?

Accepted Answer

Start by identifying the research management system, content, and permissions your team wants to use. Samaya will work with you to confirm supported connections and scope ingestion. Availability depends on your system and permissions; existing source subscriptions still apply.

Question 31

Do we need our own data subscriptions?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the source. Some licensed providers require your own subscription and authentication; others may be available through an agreed data package. Provider terms and enabled tools determine access. Some content is platform-only. Confirm the source set and any added charges during setup.

Question 32

How are agents and MCP access secured?

Accepted Answer

Multi-step agent work runs in a sandbox hosted in Samaya’s cloud environment. MCP access uses your existing single sign-on, scoped tools, and enabled sources. Source-provider restrictions and MCP entitlements still apply; platform access does not automatically enable every source through MCP.

Question 33

Can we set our own retention and deletion periods?

Accepted Answer

Retention and deletion periods are set per organization on request. Agree these requirements with Samaya during deployment and document the terms in your agreement and approved security documentation, including any third-party model-provider handling.

Question 34

Do you train on customer data?

Accepted Answer

Request the approved customer-data and model-training commitments through your security review. Confirm how Samaya and any model providers process, retain, and delete data in the service you will use. Your agreement and approved security documentation define these terms.

Question 35

Can we use MCP if our firm restricts AI assistants?

Accepted Answer

Only through an assistant and connection your firm permits. MCP access uses your existing single sign-on and scoped tools. MCP does not bypass your administrator’s restrictions or source entitlements. Agree the supported host and approval path before setup.

Question 36

How should we evaluate Samaya on our own research?

Accepted Answer

Choose a recurring task and an agreed source set. Compare the output with your team’s existing process: check important omissions, citations, reporting periods, numerical definitions, and the time spent reviewing or correcting the work. Use those criteria to judge a pilot before expanding.

Question 37

Is a pilot available?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Contact Samaya to scope a focused pilot. Confirm eligibility, users, data access, timing, legal agreements, and success criteria with the team.

Question 38

Does a trial include every licensed data source?

Accepted Answer

No. Pilot source access is agreed for the account and evaluation. Confirm the included datasets, time coverage, provider subscriptions, and connected tools before starting. A trial does not automatically enable every licensed source or every access method.

Question 39

Can I read a complete sample report on the website?

Accepted Answer

Only the first page and research context are public. Request the full sample with your work details and explicit interest in Samaya; the intended delivery is by email. The current report previews and delivery confirmation are illustrative.

Question 40

What happens when I get a demo?

Accepted Answer

Choose a date and time in the calendar, then enter your name, email, and any research question you’d like to discuss. Confirm your booking in the same widget. HubSpot handles the meeting booking. To request email follow-up without booking a call, choose Ask sales. Sample report requests are separate.

Question 41

Does requesting a demo give me immediate product access?

Accepted Answer

No. A demo is a conversation about your research needs and the setup that fits. Access to the research platform, MCP, or API is agreed with the team, including source entitlements and any pilot requirements.
